“Eco Space” Project Launched as Flagship Environmental Initiative in Accordance with COP29 Goals In a significant partnership between academia and the private sector, Baku State University (BSU) and Bayramli Group have jointly inaugurated a pioneering environmental initiative called “Eco Space.” This project serves to promote sustainable development and environmental care in Azerbaijan. Designed in line with the spirit and goals of the COP29 Conference, Eco Space is considered one of the most innovative initiatives aimed at environmental protection in the region. The project is supported by LU-MUN Holding and Azecolab, while the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan has provided special support by donating rare and endemic plant species for planting. The Eco Space combines the following advanced technologies: an aquaponics system, a microalgae bioreactor, a digital air quality monitoring system, and an atmospheric observation station. These facilities serve as a functional platform for education, scientific research, and environmental awareness. The project provides students and researchers with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge in the production of "green energy" and "green food" and contributes to the formation of a "green atmosphere". At the same time, Eco Space promotes the protection of biological diversity, becoming an ideal place for environmental education, scientific training and public awareness. The official opening ceremony held on November 14 was attended by many prominent local and international guests. These include Deputy Speakers of the Milli Majlis Ziyafat Asgarov and Musa Gasimli, Committee Chairmen Anar Isgandarov, Arzu Nagiyev, Sadiq Gurbanov, Shahin Ismayilov, Deputy Chairmen Fariz Ismayilzade and Jalala Aliyeva, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elchin Zeynalov, President of ANAS Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Vice-President of ANAS Academician Irada Huseynova, representatives of the Yasamal District Executive Power and the YAP Yasamal organization, as well as international guests from Serbia, South Korea, Nigeria and Iraq who were visiting our country within the framework of COP29. The event was also attended by representatives of LU-MUN Holding, Bayramli Group, Azecolab, various scientific and research institutions, BSU faculty and students, as well as media representatives. Based on the COP29 perspective, Eco Space is ready to make a valuable contribution to Azerbaijan's "green development" strategy and set an example for sustainable education, innovation, and cross-sectoral cooperation.
